The Cuckoo of Rigpa Book Launch

Join us at Watkins Bookstore in Central London 📖

Friday 14th at 6:30pm ⏰

Book launch and talk by Fabian Sanders celebrating a new edition of Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche’s translation and commentary on the Rig pa’i Khu bug, or Six Vajra Verses, one of the earliest Dzogchen texts.
In Tibet’s ancient shamanistic tradition the cuckoo was seen as a magical bird, its call being the harbinger of Spring, so the Cuckoo’s Song of Total Presence here introduces the nature of mind. The Six Vajra Verses are considered to be the root text of the Dzogchen Mind Series tradition out of which the entire view, meditation and action can be derived.
The Six Vajra Verses was one of the first texts through which the great translator Vairocana introduced the Dzogchen scriptures from Oddiyana. The manuscript was later found in the famous Dunhuang caves in China. Although very short, its essence expresses the principles of the ground, path and fruition of Dzogchen in its entirety. Namkhai Norbu Rinpoche here also explains the connection between Oddiyana and the ancient Tibetan kingdom of Shang Shung from Bonpo accounts.
The presentation will be filmed and published on our YouTube channel.
