About the Project

Our goal is to bring together global devotees of Guru Rinpoche, to participate in the creation of a 9.5 meter (31 feet) tall statue of Guru Padmasambhava in Upper Mustang, Nepal.
We want this to be a global project, creating international unity for a common goal among all the followers and admirers of Guru Rinpoche. This statue is about artistic and cultural heritage preservation as well as for sustaining a living spiritual practice tradition of the area.

We call on devotees of Guru Padmasambhava worldwide, who are united by their interest in cultural preservation, spirituality, and Buddhism.

The hope behind the construction of the Guru Rinpoche statue is to create merit for whole world, to become peaceful and for a healthy envorinment all around.

📍🇳🇵The location of the site is in Garphu, Nepal

The village of Garphu lies below the site where we have started building the Guru Padmasambhava statue. Garphu is in the northmost part of Upper Mustang, an ancient Buddhist kingdom very close to the Tibetan border. The local culture is emphatically Tibetan and the traditional way of life has been preserved, unlike in society in neighbouring central Tibet, which has been subjected to major changes. The village is located 3900 meters above sea level, in very dry, high-altitude desert land. There is no water near the chosen site, so the water needed for the statue's construction has to be brought in canisters from a river nearby. Only tractors can use the last two kilometers of road leading to the site. The cement and iron pillars have been brought from Pokhara, around 230 km from Garphu. The roads are treacherous, particularly during the current rainy season. However, the work must be done now in the summer, because of the extreme conditions in winter. The statue we are building will stand 9.5 meters tall.
